Phew!

It’s over.  I did it.

Despite Movember,

Family birthdays,

Kids with ice-skating related eggs on their heads,

Work,

Household,

Crazy pets,

School lunches,

Summer soccer,

Hayfever,

Christmas preparations,

You name it.

I finished NaNoWriMo.  The result?  Not a bad story actually…badly written.  I am empowered.

And I have the mother of all headaches.

Momma needs a Wagon Wheel.  Kids?  Kids…?

  1. WOW!!!!

    Congratulations!

I just hit 40,000. I’ve got four days to write 10,000 and I’m feeling very confident. But I’d like to be at 50K!

What are you going to do now?

    • Now, I’m going to put this baby to bed, dust off some old work I shoved in the drawer and rework them for submissions. NaNoWriMo was always going to be an exercise in reforming good writing habits for me and reawakening the creative connections; I feel really ready to prioritise my writing ‘work’ now and stop diminishing its importance in my life.

Plus there is a shitload of laundry and other housework waiting with my name on it and I may as well just avoid that for as long as possible.

  2. Congratulations!

I did it last year but ditched the whole thing afterwards. It was still worth it. How long might I have spent mulling over the same story before realising the plot had serious problems…?

    • LOL, just the sense of accomplishment was worth it, but you may be able to use some of the bits you put down at a later stage…and that’s all valuable too. I also, am realising the plot possibly has serious problems. Many, many, many serious problems…probably nothing unsurmountable but that would require another month of not-blogging, washing clothes, and eating cheese and toast for dinner to fix.

      • Ah yes but unlike me you have finished a book and got it published which proves that whatever problems your writing may have, you have an attention span longer than that of a fruitfly.

        Unlike me.
